Breaking Dawn - Review

January 8, 2012
Is it just me?  Am I the only one who was disappointed by the total lack of banter between Jacob Black and Rosalie Hale in this film?

I have read and re-read the books and their characters really stand out on the page - full credit to Stephenie Meyer for creating characters that spark off each other so well - that electricity in the book is well written and I especially loved the part where Rosalie is asked to bring Jacob some food and she shapes a metal dish into a dog bowl.  That would have been so funny in the film and I think that the producers did the film a huge dis-service by not putting this in.  Or is it just me?  I thought the blonde jokes were missed too.

Jacob is an enigmatic, powerful character in his own right and the fact that he puts up with so much ill treatment because of his love for Bella speaks volumes about his integrity.  I must admit though, Renesmee is the character that everyone's going to want to watch and I've already marked 16th November off on the diary!  I get that this is Edward and Bella's story, but that doesn't mean that the rest of the characters don't play a part in it - they do!

Like everyone else though, I'll still turn to mush when my significant other presents me with the Breaking Dawn Part 1 on Valentine's Day.  Roll on 11th Feb which has been selected as the DVD release date.  Pre-orders can be done through the Vampires page, or indeed the Home Page, where you can find other select products available too.

Tempted Again by Anita Blake

January 8, 2012
My daughter (bless her) is really sweet and keeps offering to make me cups of tea.  Unfortunately, the milky yak that she makes, to me doesn't make a cup of tea.  I like my tea a nice golden colour with plenty of flavour and not a single drop of sugar.  I can even tell when the spoon has been stirred in a sugary cup prior to my own...  Very frustrating for my family having me so demanding, but when a cup of tea is all you want to drink, you want it to be right!

However, occasionally she does g...

Current Reading Material

I've been reading my way through the Dark Series by Christine Feehan.  I love her concept of the mysterious Carpathian men and their loneliness and loss of all feelings and colour until they find their lifemate.  I'm on Dark Peril, which is proving to be a very enjoyable read.  I'm loving how the fiercely independent were-jaguar female, Solange, has had her heart captivated by the Carpathian male, Dominic.  The vampires and mages in the series have joined together in a bid to eradicate the Ca...

Lycans vs Vampires

December 31, 2011
I honestly don't know which is best.  I've spent a couple of years reading Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake series as well as the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer.  I've watched films from Underworld to Blade and read the entire Dark series by Christine Feehan as well as Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series...

You know what I figured out.  I really don't care.  They're both exceptionally powerful preternatural creatures and if I had to choose to come back as one or the other, I wouldn't care ...

Why I Created This Website

December 28, 2011
I always had an unnatural draw towards the supernatural.  My mother was a medium and could sit a person down without knowing them and tell them their life story.  My first brush with the supernatural came at high school when I borrowed Bram Stoker's Dracula from the school library when I was 11 or 12.

I had only read about 50 pages and had terrified myself so much with my fertile imagination that I couldn't sleep.  My mother decided the best thing she could do was desensitise me to horror film...
