Like most other pundits in the UK, I have been glued to the television over the past weeks hoping against hope that I would finally see England triumph in the Euro.

Although I saw flashes of brilliance, for instance Carroll's goal, these were few and far between for our particular team and Spain's dazzling display on pitch showed us just far short of the mark we really were.

I would say, thank goodness that nightmare is over for another 4 years, but we have the Olympics in a few short weeks, then it's just two more years until the World Cup.  So the nightmare continues...

My husband took great delight in telling me on Sunday that the transfer season had reopened and that the preseason friendlies would be starting soon.  At this point I stuck my fingers in my ears and 'la-la'd' the Smurf theme tune.  I'll watch football if I have a vested interest, but otherwise, I really don't care!  So I suppose, if I've driven to a match, or bought a ticket, that gives me a vested interest...

But until that day... Can someone wake me  up when August ends?  Thanks!
