Hurry Up Valentine's Day!

Posted by Andrea Lake on Saturday, January 28, 2012, In : Vampire
Ok, I might come across as incredibly practical, but that doesn't mean that I ignore Valentine's Day.

This year might just be extra special and possibly romantic too.  I've already sorted out a surprise for the man in my life.  I'm hoping to arrange a nice, quiet romantic meal at home too.  Fortunately, the salmon is already in the freezer.

Now all I will need is a certain film starring Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner to make my day complete!  I know my fella reads this blo...

The Time for Dragon Riders will Come Again...

Eragon... Eldest... Brisingr... Inheritance...  I have all four of them now and have just started reading Brisingr.

Eragon's story, I already knew thanks mainly to the cinematic release.  However, I think the pundits in Hollywood did a massive disservice to this particular film!

They got some of the action right, but some parts of it were sped up, which was confusing at best, and other times the film seemed to go so slow.  It's a shame, because the film had so much potential and I really can't ...

Charmed Life

Posted by Andrea Lake on Monday, January 23, 2012, In : Witch
I'm not a witch, but I do have a favourite television show focused entirely on a trio of witches who are dedicated to fighting demons and devoted to protecting all that is good.  Of course I'm talking about Charmed!

I remember watching the very first Charmed pilot so many years ago (I dare not even think back that far!) and I was captivated, spellbound - hook, line and sinker.  Of course, I recognised Shannon Doherty (Prue) from Beverley Hills 90210 and could just about recall Alyssa Milano (P...

Resident Evil - A New World

Posted by Andrea Lake on Friday, January 20, 2012, In : Zombie
I'm the first to admit that I'm not a gamer.  I have pretty poor hand-eye coordination and struggle playing the simplest games, even in real life.  I suck at ten-pin bowling and this is probably the simplest game going!

I can get engaged very simply by watching my other half quite happily battering a zombie to death with a crow bar or hockey stick.  Games like BioShock and Resident Evil are engaging and very easily drag you in.  For someone like myself, who proudly announcers her non-gaming a...

Secret No Longer Circle

Posted by Andrea Lake on Thursday, January 19, 2012, In : Witch
One of the television programs I'm avidly watching presently is The Secret Circle.  This particular series is written by L.J. Smith (same author of Vampire Diaries) and I am hooked!

As a brief synopsis, a teenage girl (Cassie Blake) gets a flat tyre as she's returning home.  She calls her mother to let her know what's happening and the phone goes dead.  Outside a mysterious man causes Cassie's mother to die in a fire and Cassie goes to live with her grandmother, sparking a whole series of ev...

Underworld: Awakening - in Cinemas 20th January!

Posted by Andrea Lake on Monday, January 16, 2012, In : Lycan
I have loved following the action-packed vampire/lycan series on film for the past nine years.  I can't wait to see the next installment - due in cinema's from 20th January!

Kate Beckinsale (Selene) has to unite lycanthropes and vampires in a bid to survive a war against humans who have uncovered their secret existence.

I have loved every single one of these films.  The special effects have been stunning throughout the series and I am sure it is going to live up to my expectations.  I daresay...
