The Walking Dead Season Two: Triggerfinger

Posted by Andrea Lake on Monday, February 27, 2012, In : Zombie
This certainly proved to be an exciting instalment in the latest series!  Buy Walking Dead: Season One now by heading to this page: Zombies.

Rick, Hershel and Glenn were stuck in the bar at the end of the last episode, and had just killed two men to preserve their existence at Hershel's farm.  One of the things I love about this series is it makes you think about life in a post-apocalyptic world and as you see the characters develop week after week, you do care for them and get involved.  I mu...

The Woman in Black - at cinemas now!

Posted by Andrea Lake on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, In : Ghosts
This new film starring Daniel Radcliffe is something to really whet my appetite!

Billed as a drama/horror/thriller by imdb.com, I must admit, I am longing to see this particular film.  The production company is my old favourite Hammer Film Productions and it's fantastic to see that they're finally recarving their niche - no one creates those tense moments before the "jump" quite like Hammer do.  No - I'm not going to mention The Ring.  Not at all!

The two films are totally dissimilar!  The fact...

What a Week!

Here's hoping the insanity dies down for a bit.

I guess I have been hooked by TWO new series to hit the UK TV scene!  I absolutely love Suits!  This has absolutely nothing to do with the supernatural, but it is brilliant.  It focuses on a minor criminal who was set up to do a drugs drop and instead finds his way to an interview for a law firm as an associate.  The premise is really good and both the associate and his mentor are extremely good looking.  There's even a sexy paralegal so your fel...

Grimm - Intriguing?

Posted by Andrea Lake on Sunday, February 12, 2012, In : Witch
As a massive fan of the genre, it's pretty exciting to have Sky as it gives you access to programmes you might not be able to see for months and years afterwards.  For example, Series 4 of True Blood has just started being shown on FX because Series 3 has just finished being shown on the main channels.

Once in a while though, a new series comes along, and I must admit, I'm really looking forward to Grimm.  The tagline for this particular series is "Not your usual suspects".  One suspects that ...

Valentine's Day

Posted by Andrea Lake on Saturday, February 11, 2012, In : Regular
What do you have planned for your sweetie?

Well, thanks to my husband's inability to keep a secret, I already know what he's got me!  He ordered me a stunning pair of pink tourmaline heart-shaped earrings and Mrs Brown's Boys - Season 1. I must admit, I love Mrs Brown's Boys (yes, it's a man in a feckin dress - as Brendan O'Carroll says) but it is really funny!

So, other than ordering Twilight: Breaking Dawn - part 1 for myself - any ideas on how I get him to buy me it?  I want vampires and sha...

Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 1

Posted by Andrea Lake on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, In : Vampire
I really cannot wait until 11th February - I'm waiting very IMPATIENTLY for my copy of this movie.

I still wish that the producers had made more of the bickering between Jacob and Rosalie, but I'm really looking forward to seeing it on my 42" plasma on Valentine's Day and force my hubby to watch it with me.

Inheritance Circle/Cycle - whatever!

Posted by Andrea Lake on Sunday, February 5, 2012, In : Regular
Well, I finished reading the final instalment from Christopher Paolini's adventures of Eragon, Shadeslayer and Dragon Rider...

Much of it works out as expected, however, my main feelings upon finishing the fourth book were of immense loneliness and sadness.  To say that the series doesn't finish on a particularly high note is an understatement, and I'm an original fantasy reader, in that I believe in happily ever after!

There is more that I would want to say about the book and how it finishes,...

Breaking News...

Posted by Andrea Lake on Thursday, February 2, 2012, In : Vampire
I've been contacted by an author who wants me to read and evaluate his book for him.  It's sci-fi/fantasy, so I don't know if it will be applicable to this site, however, I think the faith this particular author is placing in me is a testament to the honesty of this particular website.  Whether I love the book, or I hate it, he has agreed to an interview with me.  I have read a snippet of this author's work before.  This particular story is titled, "Vlad the Inhaler", and features an asthma...

Still Reading Inheritance Cycle

Posted by Andrea Lake on Thursday, February 2, 2012, In : Regular
I must admit, I am still absolutely loving Christopher Paolini's work!

From my previous post on this subject, I am happy to say I got some aspects right, but I also got a lot of stuff wrong!  I'm not going to go into any details, as I think the books are well worth buying and reading for yourselves!

Eragon has undergone a great many changes since the first book.  He has grown up considerably and has had many challenges to face.  He has also killed many of his fellow men, and feels the weight ...
